Frank Terence Balabuch

Frank Terence Balabuch, 77, of Shelby Township passed away peacefully August 2nd, 2023, at home, surrounded by his wife and children. Frank was born on March 26th, 1946, in Detroit. He was the son of Francis and Evelyn and grew up in Roseville. Throughout his life, Frank was known as a GTO enthusiast, pilot, loving father, grandfather, and friend. After graduating high school in 1964 from Sacred Heart in Roseville, Frank went to work for GM in Hamtramck and married his high school sweetheart, Genevieve. Shortly thereafter, he pursued his passion for carpentry and entered the trades, where he honed his skills as a carpenter. Throughout his life, he worked diligently to build not only structures but also lasting connections with his loved ones. In his well-deserved retirement years, Frank cherished moments spent traveling, eagerly attending Jeffery and Emily's collegiate hockey and softball tournaments, supporting them with all his heart. With his wife, he embarked on adventures to tropical destinations, cherishing the beauty of new places together. He found immeasurable joy in spending time in East Jordan. He adored the picturesque surroundings and embraced every opportunity to create beautiful memories with his family. Boating on the serene waters of Lake Charlevoix became a cherished tradition. He also found great delight in winter adventures, as he and his grandson Alex would venture to the snow-covered landscapes of upper Michigan, snowmobiling through the trails. Also, he was a member of the East Jordan Sno-Mobilers club, working with fellow members to feed cold and weary travelers. Beyond the pleasures of East Jordan, Frank had another passion that he deeply shared with his son Bob and his grandson Terry - small aircraft. Together, they formed an aviation-loving trio and their shared passion brought them closer together. One of his most cherished achievements was the home he built alongside his son Terry in East Jordan - a place filled with warmth, love, and shared memories. Frank's heart swelled with pride every time he looked upon this home, a testament to the strong bond between father and son. Frank's compassionate nature extended beyond his family and snowmobiling pursuits. He volunteered for Meals on Wheels, brightening the days of seniors with warm meals and a smile. His kindness touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark. In quieter moments, he found solace in his cherished GTO, a symbol of his youthful spirit and love for nostalgia. Taking great care in maintaining it, he cherished the memories it represented and the thrill of driving it. Frank's love was evident in every aspect of his life, from the craftsmanship he poured into his work to the time he dedicated to his family and friends. He will always be remembered as a compassionate and caring man, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion that continues to inspire those who were fortunate to know him. Frank is survived by his wife of 59 years, Genevieve, his children Renee' Ceccacci (Frank), Terry, Bob (Toni), grandchildren Jeffery, Terry, Alex, Emily (Miles), Jacob and sister Wanda. He was predeceased by his parents Francis and Evelyn, brother Derek and sister Sandra. Visitation Sunday from 3-8pm at Wujek - Calcaterra & Sons Inc., (Shelby) 54880 Van Dyke at 25 Mile Rd. Instate Monday from 10:30am until time of 11am Mass at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 54045 Schoenherr Rd, Shelby Twp, 48315 (Btw. 24 & 25 Mile).
