Elaine Eleanor Stone

Elaine “Ellie” (Kaczwara) Stone, age 92, entered the kingdom of heaven, peacefully at her home and held by family, following Christmas evening, at 2 am on December 26, 2023. Her husband Delmar preceded her in death in 2020. She is the loving mother of Tracie (James) Steinmetz & Tamara Stone; proud grandmother of Darin Steinmetz, Raeshelle (James) Percival, Corry Steinmetz, Amber (Waldorf—Miller), Dr. Ashley (Alex Cook) Waldorf, and the late Ryan Steinmetz Stone; and cherished great-grandmother of RJ Stone, Noah Miller, Lilly Percival, Nathan Miller, Gracie Percival, Andrew Percival, Nicolas Miller, James Percival, and a new great-grandchild Cook-Waldorf to be born in April of 2024. She is the dearest sister of the late Edward (the late Virginia) Kaczwara. Ellie had a very full life and enjoyed her family and friends greatly. She was a devoted Christian, wife, and committed matriarch of her family. Ellie was born February 22, 1931, in Hamtramck, Michigan, and moved to Utica as a young child, becoming a lifelong resident of Macomb County thereafter. She married Delmar, the love of her life, on November 25, 1950. They privately renewed their vows for their 70th anniversary with family in December 2020. Ellie learned the value of hard work growing up on her family’s farm on 25 Mile Road and cherished every minute of it. She often spoke of how she learned responsibility by tending to her animals and the necessities of farm life. After receiving her driver's license at the age of 12, she proudly drove her mother to the Eastern Market to sell their farm products. She had a sharp mind from a young age and pursued business in her early life, owning and operating the War-Del Motel and Mackinaw Motor Court alongside her husband, brother, and sister-in-law. In later years, she was joined by her husband Del in ownership of Park Side Real Estate, serving as the broker. Ellie was a well-known, respected, and generous woman who took pride in her work. Ellie was an active community member in her youth, belonging to numerous organizations such as the Eastern Star, Washington Garden Club, and church associations. Visitation Monday 3-8pm & Tuesday 3-8pm. Funeral Wednesday 11:00am at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons 54880 Van Dyke at 25 Mile Rd. (SHELBY TOWNSHIP). Donations are welcome to the Polish American Association or can be addressed to the family for the future purchase of a memorial at a Washington Township Park in Mrs. Stone's name.
