Elaine Marie Cavaliere

ELAINE CAVALIERE of Shelby Township passed peacefully on January 18, 2019. Her husband of 48 years, Tony, and her children, Gina (Joe Banick), Christi (Todd Bafus), Antonio (Marissa Lee) and Laura (Jeff Chittenden) were by her side. Elaine was born on January 31, 1947 in Detroit to Maryann Baluch. She grew up at St. Raymond's parish and graduated from St. Anthony High School. During the years she spent raising her family, she was an active member of the St. Lawrence Athletics community. She was a talented seamstress. Elaine founded and operated Gemini Bridal Salon with her late twin sister, Patricia. She enjoyed traveling with Tony. Together they visited over 15 countries, including 18 trips to Italy. When she knew her time with us was limited, she chose to continue to do what she loved with the people she most enjoyed. She traveled to Italy twice, frequented the casino with her girlfriends, hosted a 70th birthday party for the St. Anthony High School Class of 1965, organized her home meticulously, cooked hundreds of pounds of lasagna, meatballs and buttered chicken, and shared many laughs and bottles of wine on her patio with family and friends. The greatest joys of her life were her grandchildren: Jack, Noah, Antonio, Giada, Marco, Otto, Luke, Carla, Claire, Charlie, Max and Elliot. Elaine will also be greatly missed by her brother and sister-in-law Larry and Sandra Baluch, cousins Robert and Judy Karwowski, in-laws Mary Cavaliere, Fara Cavaliere and Anna and Romeo Civitarese, and many nieces, nephews and friends. We will fondly remember Elaine's hospitality, quick wit and sense of humor. She was the life of the party and a friend to all. "We love you more!" Visitation Thursday 5-9pm and Friday 1-9 pm at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, Inc., 36900 Schoenherr at Metro Parkway (16 Mile). Instate Saturday 10 am at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 44633 Utica Rd. until 11 am Mass. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery.
