RZEPECKI, Edmund Thomas. February 29, 2024. Age 82. Beloved husband of Geraldine (nee Lesczhik). Proud and adored father of Deborah ( Kenneth) Stys and Pamela (Brian) Brothers. Cherished grandfather of Emily Stys, Megan Stys, Joshua Stys, Nicholas Brothers and William Brothers. Predeceased by his loving parents Edmund and Clara. Ed grew up in Northeast Detroit. He went to Queen of Heaven elementary school and University of Detroit High School. He served in the United States Army Reserves as a sergeant. He attended night school and graduated from Wayne State University in 1972. He met the love of his life, Geraldine in 1961 and they married April 11, 1964 in Detroit. They had 2 daughters in 1965 and 1971. Ed worked for General Motors for 33 years and retired in 1999. He loved to play in the GM softball leagues, bowling leagues and ran the GM golf league for over 30 years. After his retirement, he worked on many local golf courses. He tried to play any month of the year in Michigan, which led to many cold rounds. He volunteered at many Buick Opens in Grand Blanc. He played golf until last summer when he just could not any longer. Ed loved all things Detroit sports. As a child he started attending Red Wings games at Olympia Stadium and Tigers and Lions games at Briggs Stadium with his father. He was in attendance for the 1968 World Series, the winning game for the 1984 World Series, the 1997 and 2002 winning Stanley Cup games and was actually in attendance when the Lions won the NFL Championship in 1957! He fulfilled his dream in 1988 and attended the Master’s in Augusta. He and his wife and daughters also travelled to see his favorite teams on the road. He loved to attend games with his daughters, wife, son in laws, grandchildren, brother in law, nieces, and nephew. He even loved to watch the local Romeo sports teams, long after his grandchildren had graduated. He adored his grandchildren. He went to every sporting event, dance recital, concert, performance, swim meet, and grandparents’ days. He was a car racing fan when he met his son in law, Brian, but grew to love it even more when he travelled to help work on the car and see his races with his daughter and grandsons. He also loved cruising Woodward at the Dream Cruise with his son in law Ken. Instate will be held Friday from 9:15 am until the time of the 10am Mass at St. Kieran Church, 53600 Mound Rd, Shelby Township, MI 48316.
