Diane Katherine Kangas

KANGAS, Diane K., 75, of Sterling Heights, Michigan passed away on November 19, 2024 after a battle with sarcoma. She was born on March 9,1949 to Mitchell S. and Sophie T. Krok in Detroit, Michigan, and had one older brother, Thomas F. Krok. Diane had many fond memories of growing up in Detroit, living close to her extended family. After graduating from Girls Catholic Central in 1967, she went on to work for the State of Michigan for 34 years. In 1979, Diane married her loving husband, Ronald J. Kangas, and enjoyed nearly 20 years together before his death. After retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her family and lifelong friends. Diane was a thoughtful, kind, empathetic, humorous, and generous woman. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, aunt, niece, cousin, godmother, and friend. The most joyful times in her life were celebrating special occasions (holidays, birthdays, graduations, weddings), as well as vacations and dining experiences, with those she cherished. Some of her favorite trips were to California, South Carolina, and Arizona. Visiting wineries and nice restaurants was always a must when traveling. When at home, she enjoyed cooking a new recipe, watching her favorite tv shows, reading, and completing the daily NY Times crossword puzzle. Preceding her in death are her husband, parents, and brother. Left to treasure her memory are her niece, Susan (Greg) Batchik; great-nephews James Batchik and Paul Batchik, and great niece, Audrey (Stephen) Nacy; nephew Greg (Tammy) Stuck; aunts, Jennie Miller and Henrietta Zywot; cousins Christine Los, Sharon (Tom) Miller, Gary (Joyce) Miller, Cynthia Miller, Michelle Adamczyk, Patricia Stegner, Daniel (Joan) Craig, Ronald (Nora) Craig and all of their children. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024 from 2pm-5pm with a Memorial Service Starting at 5pm at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, inc., 36900 Schoenherr at Metro Parkway (16 Mile).
