Hess “A TRUE FISHER OF MEN” 9/12/38 - 11/22/20 Preceded in Glory by his wife of 54 years: Katherine R Hess Son: Charles (Pook’s) Hess Granddaughter: Sydney Reagan Hess Beloved Father of: Kimberly R (Angelo) Fleece David J Hess Beloved Rakgolo (Rah Rah) / Grandfather of: Nicholas Charles Fleece Summer Rose Hess Dylan Austin Hess Known to many as: Coach, Butch, Papa Charlie, PC and Pastor. Born and Raised in Highland Park, Michigan. “GO PARKERS” he would say. Moved to Roseville in the early 60’s after serving 3 years in the Army. Helped to start many programs in the area. Roseville JR Sports and Girls High School Basketball were a few. Loved, guided and mentored many young people throughout his 20 years of coaching. Many still looking for him to shave his beard. Loved all the churches he attended. “Sterling Heights Assembly of God” (SHAG) “Christ Community Church” (C3) He served faithfully as an Elder on each churches board for many years. He also attended and taught at Rock Church where Angelo and Kimmie lead. A wing of the church was named Hess Outreach Center in honor of their love, passion and service to people through sports and outreach! Dad and Mom spent 2 years in the country of South Africa as Missionaries/Pastors. Just outside of Johannesburg. Ministering to the people in a very personal way. His true Passion was to see people come to the knowledge of Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. Dad had amazing stories of when and where he led a person to Christ! He authored and taught his class "Fishers of Men" on evangelism up until the time Jesus called him home. There are three spiritual questions he could work into any conversation. These questions were to get others to think about where you will spend eternity. Those that took his class know the tenacity and love he had for his students. #onemoreforJESUS 1. Are you 100% sure if you were to die today that you would go to Heaven? 2. If you did die today and stood before the Lord and He asked you "Why should I let you into my Heaven?" What would you say? 3. Do you believe the Bible is the word of God, cover to cover? He had many sayings he taught us over the years. The one that rings loudest is the one he said to me (David) the day before he passed. “It’s not the size of the Dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the Dog.” Dad would also say to Angelo daily, “Preach the Word!” To Nick, "15 minutes early!" The morning he passed, he told Kimmie that he was ready to come home, now we know which "home" he was speaking of! Dad was ferocious when it came to his kids (grandkids) and his Love of the Lord.
