Cevita Anna Vitello

Cevita Anna (Calisi) Vitello, age 93, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2026, surrounded by her family. Anyone who had the opportunity to know Anna, knows that she had an amazing journey between several places all the way from Ponza, Italy, Bergoo, West Virginia, Bronx, New York, and Detroit, Michigan. Anna grew up in The Bronx, and eventually moved to Southeast Detroit with her husband Silverio, after getting married in February 1954. She worked as a seamstress and later opened Sal's Pizzeria in Greektown, before eventually starting their family and later opening a trucking company. Anna is preceded in death by her late husband, Silverio, and daughter, Celeste Marie. She leaves behind her beloved children, Anna Vitello, Silverio (Chellie) Vitello, Julia (Walter) Kassak, and Paula Vitello (Joseph Vultaggio). Anna is the oldest of eight, born to the late Gaetano and Malvina (D'Arco) Calisi. She will be greatly missed by her siblings: the late Elisa (Frank) Fasano, the late Annunziata Calisi, Lucy (Dominic) DeSantis, Theresa (Pietro) Palmeiro, the late Maria Pace, Carmela Cortina, and Silverio (Marie) Calisi. She left her legacy behind with her grandchildren Michael and Jeremiah Williams, Michelle Vitello, Rusty Morgan, Randy (Judy) Morgan, Travis (Isabelle) Kassak, Cecelia (Peter) Januzelli, Louis (Kenzie) Kassak, Lidia (Robert) Salvaggio, Anna (Anthony) Delise, Ashley (Noah) Young, Alessandro Vultaggio, Julia Vultaggio, Maria Vultaggio and 14 great-grandchildren. "Grandma Anna" was an incredibly proud daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. To all that knew her, Anna's kindness, generosity, and loyalty followed her through her life, allowing her to raise a beautiful family and build a legacy of love. There was nothing more important to her than her family and friends. When she wasn't with her family, Anna also enjoyed playing Pinochle, bowling, traveling, talking on the phone, leaving voicemails, going to the casino, and her weekly hair appointments with lunch dates. She will be remembered for her sassy attitude and fabulous cooking, especially Sunday morning gravy and all her traditional holiday meals. Anna's legacy will continue to live on through her family. May she rest in peace in the hands of God. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made out in Cevita's honor to St. Anne Catholic Church (32000 Mound Rd, Warren, MI 48092). Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 from 2:30pm-9pm with a Rosary at 7:45pm at Wujek Calcaterra & Sons Funeral Home, 36900 Schoenherr Road (at Metro Parkway/16 Mile Road). Instate will be 9:30am until the time of Mass 10am at St. Anne Catholic Church 32000 Mound Rd, Warren, MI 48092. Entombment to take place at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township, MI.
