Carol Lou Wright

WRIGHT, Carol Carol Lou Wright (Minguske) passed away at age 80 surrounded by family on June 4, 2024. She was a long-time resident of Sterling Heights, Michigan. Mrs. Wright was born in Port Huron, Michigan on November 10th, 1944 to William and Lottie Minguske. She married John Wright in 1965 and they lived together as teammates for 59 years. They had two daughters and one son and later welcomed three wonderful grandchildren. Carol graduated from Port Huron High School, class of 1961. She earned bachelor degrees in teaching and math from Western Michigan University in 1965. She and John married just a few weeks before her graduation. While living in Detroit, Carol taught math in Southfield. After moving to Sterling Heights and spending years raising her children, she taught high school Algebra and Geometry in Utica Community Schools. She felt especially connected with students who appreciated her special way of explaining concepts. During her youth she often spent days outside exploring. She was curious and intelligent, finding great joy sharing experiences with her children and grandchildren. When Michelle, Jeanine, and Mark were in elementary school she volunteered in their school library. Carol and John were John, Amanda, and Dan’s biggest fans and attended their activities with cameras ready. Throughout her life there were numerous visits to hot air balloon festivals, science centers, museums, zoos, and parks. Carol and John created beautiful memories. Some of their longer trips included Albuquerque for a hot air balloon festival, road trips to Florida and the badlands, an Alaskan cruise, and two trips to Hawaii - one with her sister and her husband. They visited Michelle and Paul in Germany and Washington State, Mark and Lori in Washington DC, and Sue and Chuck in San Diego. She took joy in simple things and had an amazing green thumb. Their yard and home were filled with beauty and John continues that passion. We remember Carol as a loving and generous person who will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband John, her sister Sue (Chuck) Butler, her daughter Michelle (Paul) Tramp, her son Mark (Lori) Wright, grandsons John (Adrianna) Tramp and Daniel (Brianna) Tramp, and granddaughter Amanda Wright. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Lottie Minguske, her daughter Jeanine Wright and her brother, Thomas Minguske.
