Carl A. Tocco

July 29, 1940 - April 27, 2022

Carl Albert (Babe) Tocco died peacefully on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, surrounded by his family. Born in Detroit on July 29, 1940 to the late Carl and Clara (Corona) Tocco, Carl is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Joan (Lindquist), along with his three sons, Michael (Rich), Keith (Edgard), Bradley, grandsons Eli and Max (and their mom, Cara), his loving brother Fred (Valerie) Tocco, sister-in-law, Laura (Gary) Miserlian, brother-in-law, Don Lindquist along with many nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family that acted as surrogate siblings throughout his life. Carl graduated from Southeastern High School in Detroit in 1958, where he excelled at baseball. He was co-captain of the team and a star catcher which led to a tryout at Tigers stadium. Sports were always central to his life, and he especially loved the Tigers. After graduation, he started a lifetime career at General Motors and established lifelong friendships with coworkers. Carl will be remembered most for his generosity to others and his love and dedication to his family. Carl and Joan opened their home to international exchange students who became an extension of their family and whom Carl thought of as additional children, Lourdes (Seville, Spain) and Tomoko (Nagoya, Japan). If you knew Carl, you might remember him most for his sense of humor and his countless stories. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.
