Beverly Mae Lee

LEE, Beverly Mae, age 90 and a New Hudson resident, died peacefully on August 11, 2026 after a life filled with humor, music, art, and family. She was born Beverly Winters to John and Minnie Winters in Ferndale, Michigan on June 12, 1936, just ahead of the hottest summer on Michigan record and the youngest child by several years in a family of four siblings. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Ferndale in 1954 and married her high school sweetheart Jack Lee in 1958. Over the years, they would live in Ferndale and Warren before spending almost 40 years in Ray Township. Her career experience was varied, working in administrative roles at Chrysler Corp. and the Internal Revenue Service in Detroit, as well as working for her husband's company. Those years were followed by a pause to raise her family. In her later years, she worked for the Creative Corner craft and art supply store in Romeo. She also served on the inaugural board that created the first public library in Ray Township. She was born into a family marked by laughter, and it was her large family - her mother had nine brothers and sisters, and her brother and his wife had nine children themselves. She was whip-smart and could veer from a cutting wit to joyful silliness at the drop of a hat. She was a steadfast mother who supported her children wholeheartedly in all of their pursuits. She was a self-taught musician who loved to sing and became a skilled quilter, enjoyed arts and crafts of all kinds, loved to play cards and other games and had an ability to do crossword puzzles that was downright mystical. She is survived by her children Michael Lee (Amy) and Jennifer Steger (Jeff), and her grandchildren Alexander, Samantha, Elliot, and Owen and her step-grandchild Rian. She is also survived by her sister Joan Cook and brother John Winters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, and her brother Robert. Visitation Friday 4-7pm. Funeral Saturday 10am at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, Inc., 36900 Schoenherr at Metro Parkway (16 Mile), Sterling Heights. Interment, Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township. Memorial contributions to The Library Foundation of Michigan are appreciated; this is a non-profit organization which offers financial support to the Braille and Talking Book Library program.
