Bernadette Marie Paquette

Bernadette Marentette Paquette died peacefully at the age of 90 on February 18, 2018, in her home surrounded by family. Born in Detroit December 11, 1927 to Loretta and Lawrence Marentette, she had three brothers, Raymond (Mary), Philip and Vincent (Vivian). In 1950, she married Charles E. Paquette and they enjoyed 64 years of marriage until Charles death in December of 2014. Bernadette is survived by her devoted children: Elizabeth (Gerard) Labut, Donna (Benjamin) Kiehl, Gerald (Brenda) Paquette, Jean (Peter) Mikelonis, and Charles (Tammy) Paquette, her loving grandchildren: Kathryn, John, Paula, Benjamin, Philip, Anne, Christopher, Jacquelyn, Daniel, and Megan, and great-grandchildren: Riley, Ethan, Charlie, Pennie, Olivia, and Elsie. Bernadette was a loving aunt to 15 nieces and nephews who adored her. A devoted Catholic, Bernadette lived in faith and joy till the very end of her life, sharing her gifts of humor, generosity, patience, tolerance, gratitude, faith and love. She had a strong devotion to the Blessed Mother and prayed the rosary daily. As a child she was a member of St. John Berchman Parish in Detroit, and attended Nativity High School. She and her "Club Girls" from Nativity remained life-long friends, meeting regularly for over 70 years. Bernadette attended St. Philomena while raising a family, then St. Sylvester and St. Thecla in later years. Bernadette worked for the Hudson Motor Co. as a typist until she became a mother. She also worked at Grosse Pointe South as a Hall Monitor, and was affectionately known as "Eagle Eye". Bernadette enjoyed traveling, baking, sewing, crocheting, and volunteering at her church, and was never more happy than when she was with her family including her many cousins from the US and Canada. She was a trusted friend and listening ear to people of all ages. She will be remembered and missed for her faith, cookies, and hospitality and warmth to all who encountered her. Visitation Thursday, Feb 22nd, 3-9pm with a 7pm Rosary at Wujek - Calcaterra & Sons Inc., 36900 Schoenherr Rd at Metro Parkway (16 Mile). Instate Friday 10:30am until time of 11am Mass at St. Thecla Church 20740 S. Nunneley (Enter off Groesbeck on Kerry St., Left on Egan). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Capuchin Monastery, Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist, Ann Arbor, or Right to Life of Michigan.
