LoGrasso, Salvatore (Sam). November 3, 2023. Age 88. Beloved husband of the late Rosemary. Loving father of Joe LoGrasso (Jeanne), Maryann Caris (Jim), Tony LoGrasso (Jennifer), and Sal LoGrasso (Sandra). Proud and loving grandfather of Kristina (Ryan), Alyssa (Ryan), Jaclyn, Olivia, Nina, Joe, Natalie, Noelle, and Sam, and great-grandfather of Liam, Emory, and Christian. Dear brother of the late Fr. Pasquale LoGrasso and the late Maria Maiorano. Born in Terrasini, Sicily in 1935 to Joseph and Maria LoGrasso, Sam immigrated to join his family in Canada in 1949, then on to Detroit in 1957. He served in the US Army as a mechanic at Fort Knox and Fort Campbell before earning US citizenship in 1960. He met the love of his life Rosemary Bommarito that same year. They were married in 1961, and raised their family in St. Clair Shores. Sam’s hard work ethic and many skills kept his family well provided for. His post-Army career spanned multiple trades: auto mechanic, Twin Pines Dairy delivery route owner, GM plant worker, self-employed carpenter and home remodeler, and finally part time delivery man for Viviano Flower Shop. In 2000 Sam and Rosemary downsized to a condominium in Clinton Twp. Rosemary went home to the Lord in 2016, and Sam maintained residence at the condo until he joined her in heaven. Sam loved activities that centered around home and family: gardening, cooking, home improvement projects, holiday gatherings, vacations and get-togethers with family and friends, helping his children renovate their homes, enjoying time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sam will be remembered for his genuine smile, quick sense of humor, gentle and easy-going nature, need to be occupied with some activity, homemade applesauce, positive outlook, kindness to all, deep love of family, and his strong life-long devotion to his Catholic faith. Visitation Friday 3-8pm with 6:30pm Rosary at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, Inc., 36900 Schoenherr at Metro Parkway (16 Mile), Sterling Heights. Instate Saturday 9:30am until time of 10am Mass at St. Anastasia Catholic Church, 4571 John R., Troy. Private interment, Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township.
