Robert Bruce Williams, Sr.

Robert “Bob” Bruce Williams, Sr., affectionately known as “Willie” to many, passed away on May 26, 2025, at the age of 89. Born in Detroit, Michigan, to Bruce and Mary (Rose) Williams, Bob grew up alongside his sisters Nancy and Doris, learning the value of hard work early on through the family business, OS Williams & Sons. Bob married his childhood sweetheart, Shirley Ann Ray, in 1952. Together, they built a life centered on family, love, and shared adventures, raising three children: Barbara, Linda, and Robert, Jr. Bob’s passions included cars, camping, and hands-on tinkering—interests that shaped his life and forged lasting memories, especially with his son, Rob, through their shared love of restoring classic cars. A skilled tool and die worker and later a maintenance supervisor for JC Penney, Bob adapted with grace and resilience as life brought challenges. He lovingly cared for Shirley after her stroke and supported his daughter Barb through her battle with cancer, never wavering in his devotion. Bob’s unwavering faith and sense of humor helped guide him through life’s trials. Known for his loyalty, kindness, and tireless work ethic, he touched the lives of many—family, friends, and community alike. He is reunited in peace with his beloved wife Shirley, daughter Barbara, and his parents. He is survived by his children Linda (Curt) Taft and Robert Jr. (Ramona); grandchildren Julie (Brian) Harville, Bobbie (Andrew) Williams; and “Gpa Bob” and GeGe to Morgan, Mason, Olivia, and Gabriella. Bob was also a cherished brother to Doris (the late Lee) Samyn and the late Nancy and Jack Shepard, bonus grandfather to Crystal, Angela, Nicole, Rob (Jill) and Jeff, and friend to many, including members of the Ray and extended Williams families. Bob leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and quiet strength. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Visitation Wednesday, May 28th, 2025 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm.
