Robert John Taukert

Robert John Taukert, 90, passed peacefully on January 4, 2025. Devoted husband of Joan for 56 wonderful years. Loving father of Kevin (Lynn) Taukert, Lorraine (John) Palmer and Pamela (Colin) McCarthy. Proud and loving grandfather of Bryan, Eric and Rebecca Palmer; Erika (John) Nelson and Katelyn Taukert; Caroline, Bridget and Robert McCarthy, and great grandfather of Charlotte, Braden and Robert. Dear brother of the late Helen Bell, survived by brother-in-law James G. Bell. Brother-in-law of the late Albert Burbary, survived by Fran Burbary. Brother-in-law of the late Marvin Burbary, survived by Donna Burbary, and the late Janette Burbary. Bob maintained many lifelong friendships from his school days at St. Anthony, as well as the time he spent serving in the US Army. He enjoyed sharing fond memories about those early years, especially of his time spent in Fairbanks, Alaska. A successful business owner in partnership with his brother-in-law, Jim, they enjoyed many family vacations together in Siesta Key, Florida. Above all was his gratitude for the gift of his beloved wife and family. Always a gentleman, Bob showed kindness and grace to all. He loved a good laugh and had a silly joke ready for every occasion. He was a natural athlete whose talents included baseball, bowling, speed skating, downhill and water skiing. However, his greatest passion was golf. His love of the game was a common thread throughout his life. The golf course is where he gathered with friends and forged countless long-term friendships while enjoying golf leagues, tournaments, outings and weekend trips. His game was admired by many. As a metaphor for his life, no matter the lie, he approached every shot with a positive attitude. Visitation Wednesday from 4-8pm at Wujek - Calcaterra & Sons Inc., (Shelby Township) 54880 Van Dyke Ave. at 25 Mile Rd. Funeral Thursday Instate from 9:30am until time of 10am Mass at St. Paul of Tarsus Catholic Church, 41300 Romeo Plank Rd. (at Canal), Clinton Twp. Private inurnment will take place at a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, MI.
