Thomas Anthony Nahas, Sr.

On November 23, 2024, Thomas Anthony Nahas Sr., lovingly known as “Tommy,” passed away peacefully, surrounded by the warmth of his family. He leaves behind his cherished wife of 58 years, Judy, whose love and companionship were the cornerstone of his life. Tommy’s legacy lives on through his daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Bob McKinney, and his son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Kelley Nahas. He was a proud grandfather to Nicholas McKinney (Sarah), Miles McKinney (Rachel), Marisa Nahas, Alec McKinney (Sylvia), and his youngest, Lilliana Nahas. He also embraced the joy of being a great-grandfather to Hayes and eagerly anticipated the arrival of Maddox McKinney (Miles). Born on March 3, 1945, to Bergita and Samuel Nahas, Tommy was the second of nine children. He shared a lively and loving upbringing with his siblings, Miriam Fortuna DeLamielleure (Tom), James Nahas (Margie), Richard Nahas (Diane), John Nahas (Darlene), Margaret Burzynski (Rich), Martha Nahas, Joe Nahas (Janet), and baby Esther, who passed away in infancy. Tommy graduated from Annunciation High School in 1963, where he first met Judy, the love of his life and his high school sweetheart. During his time there, he excelled in academics and athletics, earning 4-year varsity letters in football, basketball, and baseball (All-City) as well as track (All-City). Tommy and Judy were married on May 13, 1966. They gave birth to their daughter Beth in 1968 and son Tommy in 1972. The four of them spent their early family years living a modest, yet deeply fulfilling life full of laughs and creating beautiful memories. He was also a proud Godfather to eight. Aside from his treasured family, Tommy’s heart was deeply devoted to his friends. They held a special place in his life, and their camaraderie brought him a great sense of joy. Whether it was on the golf course at Moravian Hills or Indianwood Country Club, gathering for Wednesday night dinner with "the guys," or lunch at the deli, these moments were a testament to the bonds he valued so dearly. Tommy’s friendships were more than connections—they were an extension of his family and a source of great happiness. Tommy began his professional journey in the formal wear business, where his commitment to excellence left a lasting mark. As General Manager of President Tuxedo and one of the original founders of Four Seasons Formal Wear, he played a pivotal role in the company’s remarkable growth, expanding to 13 locations across Michigan. His final venture in the formal wear industry was a meaningful one, as he worked with his children to establish Tuxedo Park. Later in life, Tommy shifted his focus to the financial world, thriving as a mortgage and construction loan officer with Huntington Bank and Warren Bank. Tommy’s warmth, kindness, and genuine care for others shone brightly. His career was more than work—it was a testament to his ability to forge connections and leave a positive impact on countless lives. In 2019, Tommy received the incredible gift of a kidney transplant from his best friend Pete. His gratitude to Pete was immense, and he often spoke about the last five years as being “gravy,” cherishing the extra time he was given to spend with his family and friends. Throughout his 79 years, Tommy was a beacon of inspiration and positivity to everyone fortunate enough to know him. His kindness, wisdom, and unwavering support left an indelible mark on countless lives. He had a unique ability to lift others up, leaving them better for having crossed his path. His legacy of love, generosity, and integrity will continue to inspire all who were touched by his remarkable spirit. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 from 3-8pm at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, Inc., 36900 Schoenherr at Metro Parkway (16 Mile). Instate and Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at St. Sharbel Catholic Church with Instate starting at 9am and Funeral Mass starting at 10am.
