Raymond Strussione

STRUSSIONE, RAYMOND entered eternal life on October 23, 2024 surrounded by his loving family at the age of 95. He was born on April 30th, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan to Edward and Teresa (D’Allessandro) Strussione. His father died when he was an infant and his mother remarried several years later. His stepfather Dan DeCample encouraged him to learn to play the accordion and music became his favorite pastime. He soon began playing in a band at weddings and parties. Raymond went to Henry Ford Trade School where students split their time with academics and on-site training to prepare for jobs in the automotive industry. During his time in the Army he served stateside in the entertainment division. He played for both wounded troops and dances for enlisted personnel. He joined Packard Motor where he met the love of his life, Palma Federico. They married in 1957. Raymond then moved to Ford Motor Company where he worked at Dearborn Engineering and then moved to the office building at Sterling Heights Mound Road Axle where he handled logistics for inventory of parts for the plant there. Raymond and Palma raised six daughters and he supplemented his income with his music career. He took care of his mother until she passed and they made wine together and cultivated her huge garden every year. Many Sunday afternoons were spent entertaining his wife and children with accordion dance parties when they were young or visiting his extended family. He left Ford at the age of 57 and was able to enjoy many years of retirement. He was very active at his church, St. Peter in Harper Woods until it closed and then transferred to St. Joan of Arc. He attended Mass religiously and prayed daily. Last year he moved to Cranberry Park Assisted Living in St. Clair Shores where he was in a wonderful neighborhood of friends and caregivers. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Palma and daughters Teresa (Donald) Zanotti, Linda (Timothy) Klein, Deanne Strussione, Lisa (John) Kuczeski, Paula (Michael) Sumner, and Gina Strussione. Also by his grandchildren Joshua Kuczeski, Remy (Kayley) Zanotti, Renee Kuczeski, Christian Sumner, Dmitriy Klein and Sophia Klein. His adoring Great Granchildren, Izabella and Vincenzo Zanotti were the light in his eyes these last few years. He was pre-deceased by his sisters Rosina DeLuca, Rose DiGiacamo, Mary Ferreira, Antoinette Setera and Nicoletta (Lena) Salerno. With his and Palma’s combined families, he had wonderful relationships with a multitude of Brother and Sister in Laws, Nieces, Nephews and their families. He enjoyed many card parties with his buddies, birthdays, board games, family reunions and holiday celebrations. He had a passion for numbers, the stock market, the lottery and arguing politics with his friends. His dedication to his family and his faith was complete, unwavering and eternal. Visitation Sunday 3-9pm with 7:00pm Scripture Service at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, 36900 Schoenherr at Metro Parkway (16 Mile). Funeral Monday, Instate 9:30am at St. Joan of Arc Church, 22412 Overlake (off Greater Mack btw. 8 & 9 Mile Rds.) until time of Mass at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers donations are welcome to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen or the Tourette Association of America. Private Entombment at Resurrection Cemetery.
