Raymond J. Kneebone

KNEEBONE, Raymond. Age 84 October 17, 2023. Beloved husband of the late Delores. Loving father of the late Daniel. Proud grandfather of Alyssa (Merrick) Rumel & Brendan (Bradley Cahalan) Kneebone. Dear brother of Barbara Kneebone and the late Robert Kneebone and brother-in-law to Carol Dutko and the late Lenord Dutko. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Visitation Monday 3:00-9:00pm with 7:00pm Scripture Service at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons 54880 Van Dyke at 25 Mile Rd. (SHELBY TOWNSHIP). Funeral Tuesday Instate 9:30am at St. Therese of Lisieux Church 48115 Schoenherr (btw. 21 & 22 Mile Rds.) until time of Mass at 10:00am. Ray was born in Detroit, Michigan and graduated from Salesian High School class of 1958. After graduating he enlisted in the Army and worked as a mechanic at Fort Knox. Ray married his wife Dee on May 29, 1965 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven in Detroit, Michigan. The couple bought a house on Thomas Drive in Warren, where they lived for over 39 years before moving to Shelby Township. They had one son, Daniel, and two grandchildren Alyssa and Brendan. Ray worked as a school bus mechanic in Southfield Public Schools. After retiring, Ray and his wife Dee were snowbirds in Estero, Florida. They have had a place at Cypress Bend Park for over twenty years. Ray enjoyed riding around on his golf cart, the card games, and all the friendships in florida. Raymond was an active member of the Catholic Church and his community. Attending St Cletus for over 30 years then St Therese of Lisieux Parish for over 15 years. He was a member of the Moms and Dads Club, where he made many lifelong friends. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was very passionate about politics and being involved in his community, Ray served on the Cypress Bend Board for many years and would always be willing to lend a helping hand. Ray was an avid sports fan cheering on Michigan Football, Lions Football, and Tigers Baseball. He also enjoyed spending his free time playing cards with his family and friends, especially euchre. He enjoyed camping around Michigan and the United States, traveling, and cruising. Ray was a jokester, always making the people around him laugh. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are appreciated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105.
