Max Friedl

Maximilian (Max) Friedl went to be with the Lord on December 6th 2024 at the age of 96. Born on July 3rd, 1928 to Maximilian and Anna (Hacker) Friedl in Niederhausen, Germany. He grew up in Dingolfing, Germany along with siblings Angela, Ewald and Barbara. He served in the German Army in World War II at the age 16. Max immigrated to Canada along with his sister Angela in hopes of a better life. He met his future wife, Muriel Gray in Windsor, Canada. They were married in 1956. The couple immigrated to the U.S. shortly thereafter because of better employment opportunities. Max was a skilled Tool and Die Supervisor who was employed by General Motors until 1992 when he retired. Max was a hard working husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle to his family. He was a friend to many, especially in his neighborhood on Twilight Drive in Shelby Township. Affectionately known as “The Kaiser of Twilight Drive.” He was especially proud of his Granddaughter, Lindsey. Both Max and Muriel were instrumental in her development during her formative years. Max was proud of the fact that he never had a repair man in the house or a lawn maintenance service company. He loved taking care of his own garden and landscape, even into his early 90’s. Max was also there to help family and friends with repairs, materials, and advice on how to fix things. He was a great help to his daughters with projects at their homes. Max is survived by his wife Muriel, daughters, Susan Friedl, Elizabeth Meyer (Tim), granddaughter Lindsey Meyer (Joshua fiancé). Nephew, Fred (Cheryl) Reichert, niece, Barbara Reichert (Carl partner). Great uncle to Paul (Colleen) Reichert, Kurt Reichert, Brooke (Alvin) Mercedes, Great uncle to additional niece and nephews. Max was predeceased by his parents Max and Anna Friedl, Brother, Ewald Friedl (Traudel partner), Sister Angela Reichert (Henry,) Nephew Henry Reichert (partner Jennifer) and great nephew Justin Reichert. Memorial Visitation Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 9am until the 10am Memorial Service at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons. 54880 Van Dyke Ave. (Shelby Twp) at 25 Mile Rd.
