Mary Delphine Bodalski

Mary Bodalski (nee Golasa) 77 of Sterling Heights, Michigan was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She was born February 28, 1947 to Walter Golasa and Zosia Frances Golasa (nee Lutostanski) at the Northwest branch of Grace Hospital in Detroit, MI and she was taken from us far too suddenly on January 6, 2025 at her home in Sterling Heights, MI. Mary is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Lawrence. She was a loving mother to her son Johnathan and an extremely proud and loving grandmother to Xander. She was also an incredibly special person to many cousins, nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Robert Golasa. She is also survived by a sister she cared very much for, Elisabeth Meader (nee Golasa) and the countless people whose lives she touched through her kindness. Mary was an active member of her church, SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church. She spent her life volunteering her time and money to helping others and cared deeply about bringing others to God, both through prayer and action. She was especially active with the Trinity Lutheran food ministry and clothes closet, The Shrine of Jesus the Divine Mercy Center, the St. Lawrence Quilting Club, and Our Lady of Guadalupe Prayer Cenacle. When she wasn’t ministering to others she enjoyed spending time with her friends, family and especially her grandson, Xander. Mary enjoyed travel and had a goal of eventually visiting every state. She loved cooking and baking and was an avid collector of many things as well as an art and craft enthusiast. She also enjoyed reading, music, museums and the occasional trip to the casino. Visitation will be Saturday January 18 and Sunday January 19 at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons Funeral Home located at 36900 Schoenherr Rd in Sterling Heights. It will be from 3-9 pm on Saturday and 2-9 pm on Sunday. The Funeral will be on Monday January 20 at SS Cyril and Methodius Slovak Catholic Church at 41233 Ryan Rd in Sterling Heights. Mary will be laid out at 11 am and the funeral will be at 12 pm followed by a procession to Resurrection Cemetery at 18201 Clinton River Rd in Clinton Township with a short service in the chapel. This will be followed by a luncheon where the family hopes all will gather for one last meal with Mary. The family asks that in lieu of flowers you donate money or your time to Trinity Lutheran outreach ministries, The Shrine of Jesus the Divine Mercy or the Capuchin Soup Kitchen.
