Mary Ann P. Spindler

Mary Ann P. Spindler, 86, of Oxford, Michigan passed away peacefully on July 13, 2024. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Spindler; her brother, Jerry Spinelli; her brother-in-law, Ermanno Damiani; and grandson, Nicholas Spindler; and is survived by her children, Karen (Matthew), Kenneth (Deborah), and Craig (Pamela); her grandchildren, Katie, Kara, Isabella, Claire, Tyler, and Sarah; and sister, Anita Damiani; who will forever be grateful for the love she brought to their lives. Mary Ann was born in Hibbing, Minnesota in 1937 to Louis and Rose Spinelli. She was an avid sport enthusiast and excelled in competitive figure skating alongside her sister, Anita Damiani. Mary Ann went on to graduate from Lawrence Technological University with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management in 1960, where she was captain of the cheerleading team and a managing editor of Lawrence Tech’s newspaper. Mary Ann then worked for a Detroit law firm conducting research. Mary Ann and Gerald, college sweethearts, married on May 26, 1962. Mary Ann was a devoted mother to Karen, Kenneth, and Craig, whose life centered around their happiness and well-being. Her home was a safe haven of love and laughter, where her nurturing spirit created lasting memories among her children and their neighborhood friends. Mary Ann also played an active role in her grandchildren’s lives, as they brought her great joy. In addition to caring for her family, Mary Ann enjoyed many hobbies. She was a classic car enthusiast and liked to cruise Woodward. Mary Ann also enjoyed trips to the casino with her friends and family. She was an avid sports fan, always cheering for the Detroit Lions, Red Wings, and Tigers. Mary Ann was also an active member of the Warren Lions Club and Lioness Club for many years, where she dedicated her time to serving her community and raising funds for Leader Dogs for the Blind. Mary Ann’s commitment to her family and community leaves a legacy of generosity and compassion that will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
