Lisa Donna Breck

Lisa Donna Breck, of Ferndale, Michigan, passed away on December 16th, 2021 after a valiant fight against cancer. She was born on October 14th, 1967 the beloved daughter of Donna (nee Rickert) and Peter Breck (1928-2019) of Sterling Heights, MI. She is survived by her brother Greg Breck of Marblehead OH. and his wife Vicki, sister Cyndi Breck of Algonac, MI and niece McKahla Breck of Lansing, MI. Lisa was a graduate of Sterling Heights High School and Oakland University. In addition to running her own cleaning business and being a surveyor, Lisa spent the majority of her career in the automotive coatings industry, employed by DuPont, BASF & Axalta before taking a medical retirement in 2020. Lisa dedicated many years of her life to activism for animals of all kinds, starting with her path to veganism almost 30 years ago. She supported various animal sanctuaries and animal rights organizations by donating much-needed funds when she could, but even more importantly, by donating her time, energy and ideas. She was a cherished volunteer and event host for SMART (Southeastern Michigan Animal Rights Team), a volunteer and founding member of SASHA Farm (Sanctuary and Safe Haven for Animals) and early on, volunteered for HARE (Humanitarians for Animal Rights Education) and ADAPTT (Animals Deserve Absolute Protection Today and Tomorrow) where she served on the board for one year. She often donated to the Michigan Anti-Cruelty Society, United Poultry Concerns and various organizations to help trap-neuter-release feral cats. Lisa was also a supporter of Affirmations (LGBTQ+ community center) of Ferndale and Gilda's Club (support and networking groups for cancer patients and their loved ones) of Royal Oak. When not working or volunteering, Lisa enjoyed camping and travelling the Scottish Isles, her favorite place in the world.
