Joseph Walter Tuczek July 25, 1940 – August 31, 2022. Tuczek, Joseph W., August 31, 2022. Age 82. Beloved husband of Elena (nee Catenaro) for 49 cherished years. Loving father of Kevin (Catherine) Tuczek and Valerie (Nick) Glaeser. Proud grandfather of Walter Tuczek, Carmen Tuczek, Nora Glaeser, and Josephine Glaeser. Joe was born Walter Joseph Tuczek on July 25, 1940, to Walter and Josephine (Kawa) Tuczek in Hamtramck, Michigan. Walter, Josephine and “Joey” experienced hardships including Josephine’s tuberculosis and death at a young age. Walter, born in Poland, owned a dry cleaning and tailor shop with locations in Detroit and Hamtramck. Young Joe went to military school for a time and graduated from Pershing High School. Other education included Lawrence Technological Institute, University of Detroit and Chrysler Institute. He had a successful career built on his affable personality and dedication to detail. He was one of four people chosen by Chrysler to learn computer programming in the early 1970s. Joe was a software salesman for over 30 years, including at Computer Services Corporation, Compuware, and Precise Software Solutions. Joe and his wife Elena owned Onassis Coney Island in Ferndale for ten years. In his “retirement,” he was a blackjack and roulette dealer at MGM Casino. He was also a U.S. Marine Reservist. Joe married Elena Catenaro in 1973. Their children are Kevin and Valerie. Joe’s own father Walter lived with the family for many years. Joe always wanted the best for his family. He enjoyed seeing his children and grandchildren take part in sports, dance and music and supported their endeavors by volunteering his time and talents. Joe took pride in hosting holiday gatherings and preparing homecooked feasts for his extended family. Joe had a strong community of friends in Troy, and relatives and friends across Metro Detroit. Joe was fun, friendly, generous and classy. He enjoyed golf, friends, and foods, especially when they intersected. He was a member of the American Polish Century Club. He will be greatly missed by his wife, children and their spouses, and grandchildren; his extended family; and friends.
