Van Overbeke (nee Juip), Joann Bernadine July 17, 1941 - Sept 2, 2021, age 80 Joann passed away surrounded by the love and prayers of her family. Loving wife of the late Edward Van Overbeke. Loving mother of Cheryl (Timothy) Corcoran, Joyce (Robert) Sackleh, Ann (Richard) Stislicki, Christine Dawes and Millie (Christopher) Paliewicz. Proud and loving grandmother of Matthew (Nicole), Jacob (Kimberly), Emily (Joshua), Holly, James (Elizabeth), Joshua, Mason, Jillian, Nathan, Amelia, Elizabeth, Grace and Tara. Great-grandmother of Arwen, Abigail and Lorelei. She is survived by her siblings, Ronald (Jane) Juip, Sr. Bernice Juip, Shirley Juip-Soule, Betty (Carl) Grewe; sister-in-law Susan Juip; brother-in-law, David (Vicki) Webb; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Joann was preceded by her husband, Edward; siblings, Marion Juip, Mary Jo Webb and Leo Juip; her son-in-law, Terry Dawes; and her granddaughter, Danielle Stislicki. Joann was born on July 17, 1941 in Warren to Leo Norman and Mildred Elizabeth (nee Rumph) Juip. She grew up on a dairy farm, first in Warren, then later in Romeo, where she developed an excellent work ethic that she passed on to her children. She loved to work outdoors, especially with her dad. Family stories of life on the farm depict the hard work and fun the Juip children shared growing up. Joann graduated from St. Augustine Catholic School in Richmond and remained friends with the close-knit classmates, always helping to plan their reunions. In October 1960, Joann attended her brother’s wedding, where she met Ed. With encouragement from family, Joann and Ed dated. They married November 11, 1961 and raised five independent daughters. In addition to being a homemaker, Joann volunteered as a catechist, Girl Scout leader, and many other roles. Joann had many talents, including sewing, knitting, crocheting and painting. She was an excellent baker, especially her cakes. Her family and friends were the lucky recipients of her time, talents and gifts. She was active in her church, bible study, book club, card club and with her neighbors and friends. Most of all, Joann loved to be with her family. She had wonderful relationships with each of her siblings and enjoyed visiting with her in-laws. She was happy with a full house, especially when it included her grandchildren and great granddaughters. In keeping with Joann’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a celebration of life for both Joann and Ed. Visitation on Sunday, October 10 from 2-5 PM and 6-8 PM with an opportunity to share memories at 7 PM at Wujek-Calcaterra, 54880 Van Dyke, Shelby Twp. Visitation on Monday, October 11 at 9:30 AM until time of mass at 10 AM at St. Kieran Catholic Church, 53600 Mound Rd, Shelby Twp. Private inurnment at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Twp, will take place at a later date.
