FERGUSON, Edward Albert. February 13, 2025. Age 85. Beloved life partner of 50 years to Barbara Olsen. Loving brother to Ann Marie Williams. Dear uncle to Charlene (Michael) Kernen and great-uncle to Tim Kernen. Predeceased by his parents Edward Sr. and Grace. This week heaven gained a hero, and we lost a truly one-of-a-kind person. Although his time with us could never be long enough, he lived every moment to the fullest, leaving behind a legacy of courage, kindness, adventure, and love that will never be forgotten Ed’s dedication to service began with six years in the Army National Guard, where he cultivated the discipline, leadership, and commitment that defined his life. Following his military service, he carried that same devotion into his career as a firefighter, rising to the rank of Senior Chief in the Detroit Fire Department. With unwavering bravery and quick instincts, he ran toward danger when others ran away, saving countless lives. Whether serving his country, his community, or his loved ones, Ed was a true hero—living with passion, integrity, and an endless desire to help others. Beyond his work, Ed was a man of adventure. He had a deep love for travel, always seeking out new experiences and places to explore. Whether he was out on the water boating, carving through the snow on a ski slope, riding his bike with the love of his life, or simply enjoying the beauty of nature, he embraced every opportunity. He had a heart for animals, a talent for fixing and refinishing anything, especially refinishing his boats, with an innate ability to turn the ordinary into something extraordinary. There was truly nothing he couldn’t do. Above all, Ed loved and cherished his lifelong partner Barbara, his family and friends. He filled their lives with laughter, wisdom, and unconditional support. There will never be another one like him. Though he is missed so very much, we find comfort in knowing that his spirit lives on in the countless lives he touched, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely. His legacy will endure, and his memory will forever be cherished. Visitation Monday, February 24, 2025 from 4-8pm at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, Inc. 36900 Schoenherr at Metro Parkway (16 Mile). Instate and Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at St Paul of Tarsus Church (41300 Romeo Plank Rd, Clinton Twp, MI 48038) with Instate beginning at 9:30am and Funeral Mass at 10am.
