Eda D. Maraone

MARAONE, EDA D. (nee Verona) age 97 February 20, 2023 Eda, the second of three children, was born in Detroit in 1925. She spent her childhood in Detroit and attended East Commerce High School. After graduating, she worked as an Executive Secretary at General Motors for 27 years. Eda was married to her devoted husband, Mike, for almost 52 years, and they raised their two sons in Detroit. Later, they lived in Commerce Township and eventually settled in Oakland Township. Eda was proud of her Italian heritage and maintained many Italian traditions. Eda was actively involved in the Catholic Church and became President of the Rosary Altar Society at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Detroit. She assisted the priests and nuns at the church, treating them to her homemade Italian dishes. Her faith in Christ was paramount in her life, and she raised her family in the Catholic faith. Eda had a passion for cooking and baking and loved preparing meals for her large extended family, especially during holidays. Her compassion was a defining characteristic, and she was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a devoted servant of the Lord, and her kind and cheerful demeanor drew people to her instantly. Beloved wife of her late husband, Mike. Loving mother of Michael Maraone (Pamela), Dennis Maraone (Judy) Loving grandmother of Brian (Fiancee’ - Liliane) Maraone, Kimberly (Michael) Williamson, Christina Maraone, Steven (Abby) Maraone, Proud great grandmother of Brayden, Connor, Andrew and Kinsley and dear sister of the late Elvira (the late Armando) Direzze, and Connie (the late Louis) Giudici, Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents; John and Antoinette Verona. Visitation with the family on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 9:30am at St. Andrew Catholic Church 1400 Inglewood Ave, Rochester, MI 48307 until 10:00am Memorial Mass. In lieu of flowers and in honor of her name, contributions can be made to Father Solanus Casey Guild. Entombment Resurrection Cemetery. Eda will be greatly missed by her family and numerous dear friends. However, her legacy of kindness, compassion, and devotion to her faith, family and friends will never be forgotten.
