Donald Lee Boase

Don was born on September 14, 1955, to George and Frances Boase, and he grew up in St. Louis, then moved to Mt. Clemens, Michigan, at the age of 12. At the age of 8, he believed that Christ, alone, bore all sin in His body on the Cross, that He rose from the dead three days later, and that He now sits in Heaven interceding for His own, so Don placed his faith in an all-sufficient Savior. Wanting that same hope for everyone he met, he spent his life in joyful service to others. Don was a lifelong learner. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Fine Arts from Bob Jones University in 1977 and a Master's in Education from Wayne State University in 2001, where he was awarded the Outstanding Masters Student Award. Along with continued postgraduate study, this education gave him the tools to passionately share his love of art—and the Creator of that art—with students and peers alike. He led Christian school-based art clubs and judged countless art competitions to encourage and support visual literacy. After enjoying a notable corporate career working for Ford and GM among others, he joyfully accepted the opportunity to serve as School Administrator for Bethany Christian School, a ministry close to his heart. It was here that he proved, once again, to be a talented and committed educator to students of all ages. Don spent 30 years serving as a deacon, youth and adult Bible study teacher, choir member, and finance committee member at First Baptist Church of Troy. He also provided countless hours of volunteer support on promotional initiatives and program staging. And today He worships at the throne of God for Whom he did it all. Apart from his salvation, Don considered his family to be his greatest joy. He married Karyn (Evans) Boase on August 14, 1976, in Mt. Clemens, and together they raised three children for the glory of God. He was preceded in death by his father, George T. Boase. He is survived by his dear wife of forty-four years Karyn, of Warren; his children, Ryan (Mindy) of Greenville, SC, Timothy (Kathryn) of Davison, MI, and Jonathan (Jannette) of Raleigh, NC. He leaves behind three beloved grandchildren: Miles, Mila, and Jackson. Also surviving are his mother Frances (Boase) Skye, and brothers George (Debbie) Boase of Warwick, Rhode Island, and Ron (Vicki) Boase of Grand Rapids, MI, as well as many in-laws who love him dearly. Visitation is Friday, May 14, 2021, from 3-8 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Troy. Additional viewing at 10:30 on Saturday, May 15, with funeral to follow at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Troy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to the Bethany Christian School Timothy Fund, 2601 John R Rd, Troy, MI 48083.
