David Thomas Miriani

David Thomas, Miriani, 60, of Shelby Township, MI, passed away unexpectedly on July 19, 2024, while he was out enjoying life. To those who knew him, he was Dave—a smiling, joyful soul who loved life, fishing, friends, and above all, his wife, children, grandchildren, and family. Born in Detroit, Michigan, on March 23, 1964, to Thomas and Ann Miriani, Dave had two brothers, Mark and Andrew, and one sister, Sandra. His family instilled in him the values of loyalty, hard work, and the joy of family. He attended Warren High School, excelling as a varsity athlete in baseball and football. After high school, he continued to excel in sports. He remained an avid sports enthusiast with a longtime passion for, and a fan of, the Detroit Lions. Dave earned an associate's degree in electronic engineering technology and a Master's Electrician Certification. He worked for thirty years as a master electrician at the Ford Sterling Axle Plant in Sterling Heights and was a very proud member of the United Auto Workers (UAW) Local 228 Region 1. Dave met his wife Kim in 2006. Over the years that followed, they built a beautiful, blended family that they always cherished and adored. Their union, and love for each other, created a remarkable, unmistakable bond that proved strong, sweet, and inspirational to all who knew them. A family that accepted, loved, laughed, and cared for each other effortlessly due, much in part, to Dave's influence. This family vows to love and support each other in honor of Dave/Papa's legacy and the life Dave and Kim created together. Dave/Papa enormously influenced his family and anyone who met him. He was joyful, radiant, and had a pure, infectious, boisterous laugh. He was uncomplicated, grateful, appreciative, and kind. Dave was an excellent example of how to be present for life. He would help anyone and offer his time, expertise, and anything he had to anyone that needed it. Dave was robust, easy to smile, and slightly mischievous. His interests included fishing, gardening, going to the beach, eating crabs, drinking PBR, telling stories, golfing, sporting events, and bowling. As a man who exuded the true spirit of a child, Papa loved and embraced time playing with and mentoring his children and grandchildren. He was also a passionate collector of marbles, amassing an impressive collection and always sharing pockets with his equally enthusiastic grandchildren. Above all, Dave deeply cared about being there for his family. Anyone who loved him would do anything to hear him laugh again. Still, we vow to continue his memory by being present for each other, loving easily, exploring and partaking in life's simple pleasures, and supporting each other just as he would want us to do. Dave is survived by his wife, Kimberly (Kim), and their beautiful family, including his children, Maria Miriani, Tyler (Emily) Gunthner, Elizabeth (John Ross) Miriani, and Madison Mosher; grandchildren Benicio, Anderson, Eden, Oliver, Leah, Harrison, Isaac & Liliana; his father Thomas (Vicky) Miriani; parents-in-law Brenda and the late Michael Smith, and Ray (Barb) Norris; siblings Mark Miriani, Sandi (Patrick) Seyferth, and Andrew (Gwen) Miriani; in-laws Scott and Debbie Hamblen, Tammy Norris, Chris and Dianna Norris, Tyrone & Julie Norris, and R.J. and Haley Norris; and step-siblings Paul and Veronica Cashion, Steve and Rhonda Cashion, Barry Cashion, and Amy and Tom Harris. Services include a Visitation on Friday, July 26, from 3:00 to 9:00 pm with a Rosary at 3:30 pm, and Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of the Funeral Service, scheduled at 11:00 am at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, 54880 Van Dyke, at 25 Mile in SHELBY TOWNSHIP.
