Conchetta Rae Cox

Conchetta (Connie) Cox, of Venice Florida, passed away peacefully on February 22nd, 2024, at the age of 86. Beloved wife of the late Robert Cox. Loving mother of Kent (Cindy) Cox and Robin Caradonna (Greg Goestenkors). Proud grandmother of Chad (Keigh) Cox, Adam (Marianne) Cox, and Megan (Gareth) Glyn. Adoring great grandmother of Colton, Cora, Serafina, and Vivian. Precious sister of Cherry (the late Frank) Woolf, Dane Herriford, and Pete (Thaun) Herriford. Predeceased by her parents, Ella Marie and Carl Herriford. Connie met Bob, the love of her life, when she was 15 years old, and got married at 16. They started their family when Connie was 18 and Bob 21. They enjoyed 56 years of marriage before Bob passed away at the age of 76. Connie’s first love was always her family. Although she earned both her cosmetology license, and real estate license as a young woman, she chose to make being a mother and homemaker her lifetime career. And she did it so well! The Cox home was always a welcoming place for all of Kent’s and Robin’s friends. Connie loved celebrating holidays in a big way, and made it a priority to spend every holiday of their youth in Indiana/Ohio with their close-knit relatives. As Connie and Bob grew older, they opened their loving homes in Florida and at Horsehead Lake to their ever-growing family, to gather and spend rich quality time together. Connie loved her warm winters in Florida, and wintered there for over 40 years. But she also loved her Michigan summers, where she was closer to family. The cottage at Horsehead Lake has been such a special place in the Cox family. All of the kids, grandkids, and great grandkids love the lake … playing games together, eating together, singing together, going for sunset cruises together. Connie so loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She glowed with love and joy and with pride as she watched Chad, Adam, and Megan grow into such remarkable young adults. And her great grandchildren Colton, Cora, Serafina, and her newest addition, Vivian Marie, were the light of her life. Connie was so blessed to have a cherished relationship with her sister, Cherry, her niece Dana, and her daughter and best friend, Robin. The four ladies enjoyed FaceTime chats almost daily, and many crazy girls’ weekends filled with non-stop talking and fun and an abundance of laughter. Connie’s life-long best friend outside of her family was Coretta Engle. Oh, the shenanigans they got into … Connie had a quiet, but a deep faith in God. She personally knew His faithfulness. He was her constant companion, her hope, her strength. Connie was the matriarch and hero to her family. Her deep and unconditional love, her faith, her quiet strength and generous heart made her deeply loved and the glue that held all generations of her family together. Visitation will be Sunday, March 3rd from 3:00 – 8:00 pm at Wujek~Calcaterra & Sons, 54880 Van Dyke Ave, Shelby Twp., 48316. The funeral will be on Monday, March 4th at 10:30 am at the same location.
