Carmelo Paul Gianino

Born in Detroit, MI September 20, 1954. He grew up in Warren, Michigan with his four siblings and his parents, Charlie and Pauline Gianino. Carmelo attended Holy Innocents Catholic School before moving to Cousino High School. He was a typical athlete, drawn to being on the ball fields more so than the classroom. He fondly talked about family dinners in his parents home basement kitchen where all of the Italians gathered! Most of his closest friends and family called him, Carmen, and his long hair style became his greatest investment around that time! Carmen, had several jobs at a young age and valued a strong work ethic that his Father passed on to him. He worked with his beloved Cousins at the family produce market and eventually went to trade school to become an electrician. Carmen was a dedicated employee to Farmer Jack and A&P for 32 years. His co-workers became life long friends whom he cherished. He spoke the language of love through providing for his family and hard work. He was married by the age of 21 years old and a proud Father of 3 children: Anthony (Amy, Grand Son Evan and Grand Daughter Sophia) Gianino , Gina (Dennis and Boys) Doelle and Andrea ( Matthew, Grand Daughters, Maeve and Quinn) Weichbrodt. He also spoke the language of love through music and playing his record collection throughout the house while everyone danced ..with the constant reminder not to let the needle skip on the vinyl! The cassette tape era came and went… And the CD collection grew along side of his growing children with many life changes that shaped him forever. Carmelo spent his retired years at Sams Club, keeping the flow of traffic at the gas station tip-top! He enjoyed the routine of a job and sporting that reflective work vest. He spent wonderful years living with Gina and Dennis in Oakland Township. Their four sons: Brett, Brady, McCallister and Denny kept him busy with baseball games to attend, movie night and long talks about life. Eventually overcoming a shocking heart condition, Carmen was strong enough to live on his own and his bachelor pad in Shelby Township. He loved to read, meditate in the morning with the smell of his freshly brewed coffee in the air. Morning phone calls and weekly workouts with Gina and the Boys made his week! He loved to cook so trips to the grocery store to meticulously pick out his weekly groceries was a must. He valued the little things in life and was always using his language of love through laughter! Carmelo’s favorite quote, “Be at least as interested in what goes on inside you as what happens outside. If you get the inside right, the outside will fall into place.” Eckhart Tolle
