Betty Lou Lombardi

Betty Lou Lombardi (Covert) of Clinton Township, Michigan was born in her parent’s home April 19, 1936, in Mt. Clemens, Michigan. She married John Lombardi Jr. August 10th 1955. She was a devoted parishioner of Saint Valerie’s Catholic church where she sang in choir and taught catechism. For 10 years she worked at Donald J. Yacks Elementary School in the cafeteria, spreading her love to many children. Although Betty was not born Italian she learned how to cook from the best in the family and passed on that tradition to all that would learn. There was never a visit without homemade meals and making sure everyone was taken care of. All that knew Betty knew her love for couponing, bargain shopping and gardening. She always wanted to ensure no holiday, birthday or celebration was missed without one of her endearing letters and homemade cards. She would spend hours cutting from magazines, flyers, or just about any paper print to build homemade cards for all her friends and loved ones. Not only would the card be homemade but was not complete without her loving words written in perfect cursive penmanship. For all her grandchildren the cards almost always included another special gift or a two-dollar bill. She made all those who knew her feel loved and appreciated. Betty was preceded in death by her mother and father Elizabeth (Robert) Covert, husband John Lombardi Jr., her sister Judy Chapman, her brother Robert Covert, her sons Mark Lombardi and Christopher Lombardi, and her granddaughter Katrina Lombardi. Betty leaves behind a large loving family. Sister Jeanne (Vicki) Covert, brother in law Fredrick Chapman, son Michael (Brenda) Lombardi, Daughter in law Debbie Lombardi. Grandchildren Shelly (Brad) Freis, Christi Lombardi, Chelsea Lombardi, Cassidy (James) Schoner, Crysta (Jacob) Rohn, Cole Cook, Michael Lombardi Jr. (Miranda), Lynn ( Ralph) Watters, Melissa Lombard (Doug Tatum). Great grandchildren: Mason, Mariah, Maddox, Jacob, Ava, Jasmine, Hailey, Chase, Cayden, Greyson, Ahnaleia, Scarlett, Kinsley, and two great great grandchildren Kaiden and Percy, and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at St. Louis Catholic Church on July 6th, 2024 (24415 Crocker Blvd, Clinton Twp, MI 48036). A visitation will be held at 9:30am followed by a mass and service at 10am and graveside service after St. Peters Cemetery 43755 Elizabeth Rd., Clinton Township, MI 48036.
