Barbara C. DiLorenzo

Barbara Clare DiLorenzo (Straub) joined those that had gone before her on January 8th, 2025 surrounded by her devoted and loving family. Above all, Barbara adored her children and grandchildren. In their adult years, she would become their ultimate cheerleader, most trusted confidant and unwavering ally. In her last 7 months, our mother set the most overwhelming example of strength, courage and tenacity and fought relentlessly to stay with her family, but God's plans were very different. Our mother's biggest accomplishment were her 3 children and 5 grandchildren. Days before her passing, she clearly stated that she had received everything she ever wanted, which was 3 "wonderful children", 5 adoring grandchildren and a son in law and daughter in law that were like her very own. Her life had been richly blessed with the simple things. We would also like to recognize the wonderful program our mother launched at St. Joseph Hospital West during her many years of volunteering in the surgical waiting lounge. It was Barbara who decided waiting families deserved a more consistent update during their loved ones surgery. She would frequently check in with the OR and get an update for family members waiting to learn the well being of the patient. This was such a proud moment for her as her main focus had always been her children. However, after we were grown and sailing on our own she needed her purpose and this is where she found it. She also received the Medallion Ball Award due to the launching of the program and her family was by her side to celebrate that evening as we beamed with our own pride. She will be missed by so many family and friends. Beloved wife of the late Anthony J. DiLorenzo for 62 years. Loving father of John DiLorenzo, Michael (Laura) DiLorenzo, Karen (Nando) Bartolotta. Proud and adored Grandma of Mikelle, Kailey (Aaron), Jonathon (Kayla), Joseph and Sophia. Dear sister of Ken (Joanne) Straub, sister in law of the late Mary Ann (Anthony) Giorgio, and Mary (the late John) Pellegrino. Cherished aunt of many nieces and nephews. Barbara was predeceased by her parents Frank and Mildred Straub. A memorial mass will be held on February 7th at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 18201 23 Mile Road, Macomb, MI 48042. There will be a Memorial gathering at 9:30am with the Memorial mass beginning at 10:00am. As this is a celebration of life colorful attire is encouraged and black is not necessary, as Barbara always did her best to live life with JOY!
