Anthony J. DiLorenzo

Anthony J. DiLorenzo, more commonly referred to as Tony or Tony D, swiftly left us on the evening of Friday, July 26th. This after a whirlwind of visitors over the prior few days from his family and friends sharing stories of yesteryear and celebrating with a couple of great Manhattans. Tony D played many roles early in his career, including an on the road salesman for Uncle Ben’s Rice and as a car salesman for White Oldsmobile. His passion for cars infected him, and despite his change in career paths to the life insurance industry, he craved the next best car deal and arranged such for numerous family members, friends and clients. His favorite car was simply 'the one he could get the best deal on!' Tony started his insurance career at New York Life, 'the company you keep', but he didn’t keep them for very long once he realized that you needed a diversified portfolio of carriers to truly suit your customers needs, so he set out on the trail of being an independent agent and founded Michigan Approved Planners, which eventually became Michigan Planners, as it is known today. Once it came time to ease away from his working life, Tony D followed the path of his mother and two sisters, finding his way very comfortably around the kitchen, feeding anyone who came within ear shot of his banging pans, or within the scent trail of freshly chopped garlic. His other passion was spending every Summer at his cottage on Platte Lake where he made numerous friends over the years. You could say that was his happy place! Tony loved his family, his cars and fishing simply on his pontoon boat. But most importantly, he loved to share his time, his stories and his life with his family and friends around the dinner table, where fables, wine and laughs faded deep into the night. In his final weeks of his life, he left us with his last joke, in that he described himself as perfectly healthy; the only thing wrong with him was his date of birth! A great salesman and storyteller, a great father, brother, friend, finally playing his best role in life as Papa Tony! Beloved husband of Barbara. Loving father of John DiLorenzo, Mike (Laura) DiLorenzo and Karen (Nando) Bartolotta. Proud and adored Papa Tony of Mikelle, Kailey (Aaron), Jonathon (Kayla), Joseph, and Sophia. Dear brother of the late Mary Ann (Anthony) Giorgio, and Mary (the late John) Pellegrino. Cherished uncle of many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Rosalia DiLorenzo. A memorial mass will be held on February 7th at St Isidore Catholic Church, 18201 23 Mile Road, Macomb, MI 48042. There will be a Memorial gathering at 9:30am with the Memorial mass beginning at 10:00am.
